Let’s make a Buddha Bowl. Wait, what? Are you wondering– What the heck is a Buddha Bowl? Well, besides being absolutely scrumptious, they are also fun to create.
Don’t be fooled by the name, Buddha Bowl. You’re not embarking on a religious/spiritual world or summoning the Buddha himself into your kitchen when creating yours. I mean, you can if you want. You do you!
Essentially, they are a vegan dish in which you set a positive mindset towards while preparing your bowl. Embracing positive vibes while cutting your veggies, and intentionally setting up your bowl to create harmony and balance with the ingredients. (I also like to call them happy bowls.) This step isn’t necessary, but why not get your spirit and mind in a good place- is that ever a bad thing?
If you feel inspired to make one, it’s pretty simple.
*choose a leafy base (I used organic spinach)
*add a complex carb (I used black bean pasta)
*veggies (I like the organic carrots from Whole Foods. They are a slight sweetness when you cook them “al dente”
*add your protein of choice (if you don’t want it to be vegan, add eggs.)
*add a sweet (I added Goji berries)
*how about a crunch! (I love to add sunflower seeds)
I also used and organic limited ingredient Balsamic vinegar from Whole Foods for my dressing. I was mindful of the quantity I used on my Budda Bowl.
*Lastly, enjoy that beautiful concoction you made! Be grateful when you enjoy each and every bite.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with for your own bowl!
